TEDx Mixtape: John Oates and Scott Hamilton

April 30, 2026 @ 7:00pm

This event has passed.

Sometimes we don’t have the words to explain the moments that shape our lives.

But a song can.

At TEDxNashville Mixtape, we invite remarkable guests to answer four questions about their lives — and their answer to each question must be a song.

As those songs unfold, something fascinating happens:
Stories from very different lives begin to reveal unexpected overlaps.

Memories connect.
Experiences echo.
And music becomes the bridge between them.

A collaboration with Come Together Music

Mixtape is presented in partnership with the Come Together Music Podcast, hosted and founded by Shaka Mitchell.

The podcast explores how music connects people across backgrounds, professions, and life experiences — often revealing surprising common ground.

Together, TEDxNashville and Come Together Music are bringing that idea to life in a live setting.

Guests:

John Oates
Legendary singer-songwriter and member of Hall & Oates

Scott Hamilton
Olympic gold medalist and beloved figure skating champion

Two lives that look very different on paper.

But through music, we’ll discover the stories they unexpectedly share.

What to Expect

This is not a concert.

It’s a conversation told through music.

Throughout the evening, our guests will answer four questions about their lives.
Each answer must be a song.

Those songs become the doorway into the stories behind them — and often reveal surprising connections between people whose lives seem worlds apart.
