Southern Rounds returns to ANALOG in Nashville on June 17 with an exceptional lineup of acclaimed songwriters and performers. This week, KRISTIAN BUSH takes the stage as both Host and featured performer, joined by JAMES OTTO and WYATT DURRETTE. Experience an intimate evening of stories and songs as these hitmakers share the inspiration behind chart-topping favorites recorded by Sugarland, Megan Moroney, Luke Combs, and Zac Brown Band and more. Musician BRANDON BUSH has taken a short break from hunting chupacabras and will accompany all the performers for this show.
KRISTIAN BUSH
Kristian Bush is country music’s renaissance man — a shape-shifting creator who thrives on the genre’s fringes while staying true to its creative heartbeat. His recent run as a producer has surged with artists including Megan Moroney, K. Michelle, and Runaway June, earning him three CMA Award nominations in 2025. The commercial popularity of the songs he produces routinely lands him in the top five on Billboard’s Country Producers chart. Through his work with Moroney, he has also produced artists including Ed Sheeran, Kenny Chesney, Jamey Johnson, and Kacey Musgraves — projects that reflect his expanding creative reach. It’s one more lane where he stretches norms, embraces creative freedom, and refuses to quit.
Bush has founded two wildly successful duos in different genres — Sugarland and Billy Pilgrim — launched a solo career, formed the improvisational rock band Dark Water, and explored lo-fi chill music through Cabin Chill. His songwriting also remains in constant demand.
“Creating things where there was nothing before is a genuine thrill,” he says. “You never quit trying.”
A multi-platinum, two-time Grammy winner, he is best known as one-half of Sugarland with Jennifer Nettles. In 2024, he celebrated Sugarland’s 20th anniversary with a co-headlining arena tour with Little Big Town — while also marking 34 years with Billy Pilgrim, which made its Grand Ole Opry debut that same year.
“I love that people are still putting the clues together that the guy from Sugarland is one of the guys from Billy Pilgrim,” he laughs. Sugarland earned accolades from the Recording Academy, the CMA, and the ACM for hits including “Stay,” “Baby Girl,” “Stuck Like Glue,” and “Life in a Northern Town.”
Billy Pilgrim — Bush and Andrew Hyra — began in 1990, released five albums in 11 years, and gained lasting traction with “Sweet Louisiana Sound” and “Insomniac,” which resurfaced decades later in The New York Times. In 2024, they recommitted to their trademark harmonies and folk-rock storytelling.
That same exploratory spirit drives Dark Water, Bush’s collaboration with brother Brandon Bush and guitarist Benji Shanks. Formed in 2020, the group released One Step Ahead of the Robot in fall 2025.
“Whereas Sugarland is a bestseller you read once, Dark Water is the thing you keep picking back up,” he says.
In addition, the trio records as Cabin Chill, steadily releasing lo-fi tracks throughout the year. They’re also the sonic backbone of Moroney’s albums, with Bush producing while Brandon and Benji serve as her studio band. As he has with every Moroney album, Bush produced her new collection, Cloud 9, set for release in February. The project further underscores a creative ecosystem that has led to an ever-expanding list of high-profile studio collaborations.
In 2026, Bush will take his music overseas twice, touring the U.K. on two separate runs.
Two decades in, Bush is still experimenting — or, as he puts it, “finding joy in the challenge of an ever-expanding creative space.”

JAMES OTTO
James Otto has been called The Biggest Voice in Country Music & that might just be true. Standing a broad-shouldered 6 feet 5 inches tall, Otto has a powerhouse voice to match. His textured, sometimes raspy vocals are delivered with passion and plenty of soul. Otto blends that soulful voice with great storytelling and a smooth, funky groove to create his signature Country Soul sound.
Otto rose to prominence when he signed with Warner Bros. and released the album, Sunset Man. His breakthrough hit, “Just Got Started Lovin’ You,” went to the top of the charts as a 2-week #1 song and became the “most played country song of the year.” Otto also received a Grammy Nomination for “Best Male Country Vocal Performance” for the song. The hit’s popularity has endured, as it’s on the list of Billboard’s 100 Greatest Country Songs, confirming it as one of the most played songs in the history of country radio.
A founding member of MuzikMafia, Otto has also earned a reputation as one of Nashville’s most compelling songwriters. He co-wrote Jamey Johnson’s career-defining hit, “In Color,” and for that song, Otto again received a Grammy nod, but this time as a songwriter for “Best Country Song.” “In Color” brought further recognition, as he took home awards for both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Academy’s “Song of the Year.” Later, Otto co-penned “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Boat” for Jimmy Buffett, which uniquely made its way to Broadway as part of the musical Escape to Margaritaville. He also co-wrote “No Hurry,” which soared to the top of the charts for the Zac Brown Band. Additionally, Otto has collaborated on songs for artists: Randy Houser, Chris Janson, Darius Rucker, Trace Adkins, Josh Kiser, John Rich, John Anderson, Randy Owen, the supergroup Alabama, and many more.
James will be joining The Mavericks on the road for “The Mavericks and Friends: The Music Lives On” tour in support of his newly released singles “Overthinkin’” and “These Hands” from his upcoming highly anticipated new album Self Made Fool.

WYATT DURRETTE
Wyatt Durrette is an award-winning singer/songwriter from Richmond, VA. Best known for his work with Luke Combs and Zac Brown Band, Wyatt’s songs have garnered a record-setting collection of hits. Most recently, Combs’ song “Even Though I’m Leaving,” co-written by Wyatt, reached Number One and received SESAC’s Song of the Year in 2020 along with a CMA Nomination. Their previous collaboration, Number One hit “Beautiful Crazy” received SESAC and CMA’s Song of the Year in 2019 and has gone 10X PLATINUM, sitting at #1 for seven weeks and is one of only 7 songs in Country music to reach Diamond status (and one of only 122 in the history of music to go Diamond).
In total, more than forty artist song collaborations have led to over 10 BILLION digital streams, 24 MILLION singles sold, 10 MILLION albums sold, 14 Number Ones and 17 Number Ones at Country & Rock Radio. His songs have helped secure 8 GRAMMY Awards and countless nominations. Wyatt has been presented with the incredible honor of the CMA Triple Play Award not once, but twice, as Zac Brown Band’s “Chicken Fried,” “Whatever It Is,” and “Toes” were all chart-topping hits within a twelve-month period, followed by “Highway 20 Ride,” “As She’s Walking Away,” and “Colder Weather.” He has received SESAC’s Song of the Year award 3 times; in 2015 for “Homegrown,” in 2019 for “Beautiful Crazy,” and in 2020 for “Even Though I’m Leaving,” a song Wyatt co-wrote with Luke Combs and Ray Fulcher.
Wyatt is showing no signs of slowing down. He co-wrote 5 songs on the latest Zac Brown Band album “The Comeback,” co-wrote Niko Moon’s hit single “Easy Tonight,” and many more. Wyatt’s curated premiere songwriter round SOUTHERN ROUNDS, which plays monthly in Nashville, will be going on the road.

BRANDON BUSH (Musician)
BRANDON BUSH has performed on 100s of recordings including GRAMMY® Award-nominated and winning releases by John Mayer, Sugarland, Little Big Town and Shawn Mullins. As a former member of the rock band Train, Brandon toured the world indulging in his lifelong fantasy of performing a keyboard solo on a smoke-emitting Moog synthesizer. He has composed and music directed for theatrical productions of Approval Junkie, Shakespeare In Love, and the world premiere musicals Troubadour and Darlin’ Cory at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, GA. In addition to scoring recent podcasts, Gangster House, The Baron of Botox, and Broadway Revival, he has provided original music for TCM and the Food Network. Currently, Bush is touring as the keyboardist with Sugarland and as the music director for his brother Kristian Bush. He manages the Atlanta-based music collective Songs of the Architect.
